In May 2017, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP awarded “Chevron Phillips Chemical Dependents’ Scholarships”. The annual program offers scholarships to employees’ dependents across the company. They awarded 37 applicants this year, to students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university. Further announced an advanced degree for graduate studies, and for students new to the scholarship program this year, a two-year degree or certification. The company also donated more than $3 million to support the education of employees’ dependents.
“We are constantly evaluating how to strengthen the workforce of tomorrow and supporting those pursuing a two-year degree makes sense for us as a company which employs approximately 800 people with similar degrees,” says Bryce Hallowell, public affairs manager for Chevron Phillips Chemical. He further quoted, “Education is an important piece of that puzzle and we are pleased to be able to support the family members of our employees who have worked hard to not only excel in academics but also in making a positive impact in their communities. We look forward to their continued success.”
